Mat 124g Battery

The right hand side of the yashica mat 124g is simple.

Mat 124g battery.

It has the film rewind shutter cooking handle and exposure number window and iso control dial. Thankfully the battery in yashica mat 124g only powers the light meter unlike my yashica electro. Not that the meter is very accurate but i would think it would make it less. This camera uses a 1 3 v mercury battery to power its exposure meter.

Having only 12 frames to fill in a roll is also a positive thing for me because i can fill it up quickly then send it to develop. If you have one of these instead of the 18awg wire indicated in the sketch use a single strand 12awg wire and strip off the insulation.

A common complaint with used yashica mat 124 124g cameras is that that meter is inoperative. When you roll the wire into a circle make it slightly. The left hand side of the yashica mat 124g contains the focusing knob battery chamber film spool locking knobs and flash mount. Open the battery compartment cover holding with finger and by turning it counter clockwise. There is a simple film reminder function integrated into film knob. The meter functions but we cannot guarantee accuracy.

The last version the 124g was essentially the same as the 124 except that it had gold plated contacts in the meter hence the g suffix. Rest of my musing. Of course like all cameras from that era the yashica mat 124g took a 1 35v mercury battery. Repace with a wein px635 which is the same voltage.
